II. Hello, Startup! How Cool Are You?

Learn more about challenges facing Start-ups and SMEs and how to overcome them at this interactive workshop targeting local small and medium sized businesses. Led by experts in the field, this 90-minute workshop will feature open discussions, presentations and sharing with start-up entrepreneurs and their success stories.

Marco Chung

Former Founder & Director, Local sports-tech start-up

Marco Chung is a former Founder and Director of a local sports-tech start-up, and one of the featured sports-tech creators in Asian Sports Tech Report, with businesses across Asia, including Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. 

In 2019, Marco led the company to become one of seven selected start-ups in a Global Sports-Tech Accelerator competition based in Germany, which received over 600 applications globally. He will be sharing his experiences and lessons learnt during his journey as a start-up founder.

David Wexler

Founder, NovaPans Handpans & GripBeats®

David Wexler is a BMus King’s College London and Royal Academy of Music and MPhil Business Hong Kong University of Science and Technology graduate from the UK. He founded his two businesses, both during his final year of undergraduate studies, one called NovaPans Handpans, and the other GripBeats®. He has sold over USD$1M worth of his products since 2016 and continues to grow his own music tech business.  

GriBeats® is currently looking for investment to support its employees and build on its success. Otherwise, David will continue to bootstrap the company until it is as successful as any other.

Jonathan Wong has extensive international business experience, including over 20 years in multinational media companies like STAR TV, Celestial Pictures, NDS, Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, Al Jazeera Media Network and MX1.  

He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences and provides training and consultancy to organizations in both the public and private sectors, also provides mentorship for social enterprises and start-up businesses on numerous platforms and programs.  

Jonathan is currently Project Director at The Center of Entrepreneurship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Visiting Lecturer at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
